Already the rain is showing very heavy on the radar just off Cornwall and we
have a few light showers as a forerunner. Cloud is increasing rapidly now,

I'm bracing myself for the onslaught again :-)

9.5mm in 24 hours to 09:00 in Penzance, so Devon appears to have been
generally a lot wetter than W. Cornwall, often the case in these
conditions. (We can get some very large rainfall totals with an
unstable NNW giving heavy showers streaming down in a line from the
Irish sea, when Devon & E. Cornwall are completely dry.) Windier
though, gusts 60mph at some exposed spots yesterday, 48mph here.
The brightest rainfall echos are east of Penzance now, and they seemed
to have overstated the rain somewhat, (another 4.5mm so far) possibly
because the drops were very large at times.

Can confirm an earlier shower with very large drops here too Graham. Now at 1215
radar looks *very* threatening for Dartmoor. Sky looks threatening too. We shall
see.
Light rain for present though, temp. a very mild 9.8 deg C.
