Ah that has always puzzled me ... 'links courses' as distinct from ...?
Perhaps you are the man to help me with this - my dictionaries can't.


To me it has meant a seaside course, very close to the sea and usually on
sand dunes. They can be both extremely windy and wet, as was the case
yesterday. It was so bad when I went past about noon, that most players
had given up playing - wind was about f8 and rain was continuous and
heavy:-(
