The daft thing is, wolves don't howl at the moon.

The North American wolves with which I'm involved do howl at ice cream vans
though, at church bells; they also howl when their visitors leave.

(And on a more serious note, wild wolves will howl for all sorts of reasons,
but the moon isn't one of them!)
