David Braine on Spotlight weather yesterday did say that the strongest
winds (gusts) today would probably be to the east of high ground such
as the Exe Valley. How true that has turned out to be I don't know.

I recorded a gust of 48 mph earlier this morning which isn't really
that big a deal given the forecast.

So far the strongest gusts in the SW seem to be in the usual spots,
E.g. 66mph near Land's End, 64mph at Portland (56mph so far in
Penzance), so nothing extreme.

Nothing like as severe as the gales in December as far as Cornwall is
concerned. Swell currently 15'-20' at Sevenstones compared to the
exceptional 25'-30' on a couple of occasions in December.
