OPERATORS AND ATC UNITS ARE ADVISED THAT THERE ARE

.
DELAYS ARE CAUSED BY REDUCED CAPACITY DUE TO STRONG WIND
.
AVERAGE DELAY IS ++160++ MINUTES

THE CURRENT SITUATION IS THAT TRAFFIC IS HOLDING AN AVERAGE OF

OPERATORS SHOULD FUEL ACCORDINGLY.

THE 3000 FT WIND IS 75 KTS, THIS IS CREATING SOME PROBLEMS IN THE
APPROACH SECTOR. SFC WIND IS 24KTS GUSTING 37KTS.
THIS SITUATION IS FORECAST TO CONTINUE UNTIL AT LEAST 2000UTC.

I wonder what the daily tonnage of fuel used (wasted) and carbon emitted by
aircraft holding inbound to LHR even when weather is favourable. It's a
frightening thought.
