After a bit of "googling" I'll suggest Sunderland:-) And that area was
largely unaffected by the winds further south.


But that area was always going to be marginal as to whether very
strong winds were going to happen.

What did surprise me was that NW England appears to have had
most of the strongest winds - 91mph at Winter Hill, obviously
high elevation but the 76mph at Manchesater Airport is very notable.
I expected the strongest winds today to be somewhere in the Midlands.

Conditions in Bolton today can truely be described as savage.

98 mph at Cromer lifeboat station earlier today apparently.

We're about 15 miles away and some of the gusts were pretty nasty, our
workshop roof suffered damage for the first time ever, though I'm surprised
by that figure.
