Default Estimating air temperatu daily average and range

Hello,

I wrote the following question to sci.geo.meteorology, but got no
replies. So I hope that somebody in this newsgroup can help me with a
hint on the following question:

For a specific location on the globe, I have daily data of global and
diffuse solar radiation (on the horizontal), given as daily as well as
hourly values. For each month of the year, I also have the average
temperature of the month and the average temperature range of the
month for that location. Thus, I only have two temperature data vs. a
lot of radiation data.

Now here is my question: Is there a statistical method / approach to
do the following:
I would like to estimate / approximate the variation of surface air
temperature in terms of _daily_ average temperature* and daily
temperature range**, depending on the radiation data.
In other words, given a particular day of a month with its known
values of global and diffuse radiation and given the average
temperature of the month and the average temperature range of the
month: would it be possible to estimate the daily average temperature
and the daily temperature range for that particular day?

A statement like: if May has an average temperature of ...°C and an
average temperature range of ...°C, then for a day with a radiation
of ...kWh/m² (beam radiation) and ...kWh/m² (diffuse radiation) the
average temperature is probably ...°C and the temperature range is
probably ...°C.

* In this case: daily average temperature = ( Tmax + Tmin ) / 2
** In this case: daily temperature range = Tmax - Tmin

Thank you very much for your help!
