It was about -6C here, the coldest in quite a number of years, but not sure
how long. What caught me out was my central heating tank and associated
feed pipes outside. The oil had thickened to such a degree that it didn't
flow when the heating was meant to come on this morning. It took until
near noon to thaw enough.
Does anyone have an idea of the temperature at which 28 sec oil gets too
viscous to flow?
Heating oil / diesel is hygroscopic. Absorbed moisture can form ice
crystals and block the pipe even though the fuel itself is still capable
of flowing freely.
