URL's sometimes ones which have not been used for a decade or more!

The current MO website does include the correct domain (as did the
previous version) in the page footer!

I actually had an email from the Met Office some years ago regarding the
link I had to their web site, and asking me to update it, I did. But
that must have been a lot of work for someone, to trawl through all the
pages linking to them and send them all an email.
