At this rate the 37.1C record will be absolutely shattered.

Of course I'm joking there's no way we are suddenly going
to put a whole 3C onto the record, but I guess 38C is possible.
However the really hot air is currently being squeezed into an
ever decreasing area in the south and east and what with all
the storms about even some overspill cloud development in the
SE at the wrong time would be enough to take a couple of
degrees of what might have been.

I wonder what temperature needs to be reached in the SE for some homegrown
cells to develop? Relative humidities seem quite low however.

Completely clear here in SW London, although a light breeze has developed.
