Rain overnight?

My VP recorded a tip in the rain gauge at 5:30am today. I'd normally put
that down to dew fall but I tend to only get that after sunrise (6:16am
today).
On leaving the house for work this morning at 8:30, all the roads and
paths were damp as though there had been some light rain. So it either
rained or it was a very heavy dewfall. Relative humidity at the time was
only around 80% though - there was also a slight increase in temperature
at 5:30am and a notable gusting of wind. There doesn't seem to be
anything of note on the radar...
Can anyone in the area corroborate this?
Jonathan, Nothing here Boughton-under-Blean. One of the tbr's tipped at 0700.
None of the rain detectors registered anything. Nothing in the manual rain
gauges.
