Goverment rubbish collection fears

Well GW claims another victim; the weekly bin collection. Apparently
an increase in the rat and fly population is necessary to fight GW.
All that's happening is that the councils that haven't yet gone over to
fortnightly collection are catching up with those that have, including
ours, having found that there is no increase in flies or rats - not least
because the design of the wheelie bins is good enough to prevent it. If
you didn't know that fortnightly collections are now widespread across the
country, perhaps you should get out more :-)

In St Albans rubbish is collected weekly and recyling (green waste,
glass, plastic and paper) is collected on a fortnightly basis. Rubbish
collection every fortnight would be fine with me as the volume of refuse we
put out is small. However I think it would only work if they switched from
bin bags to wheelie bins.
It has nothing to do with GW and everything to do with reducing the cost of
collection.
