Snow on the first day of 'summer'...

Snow even as far south as Southampton around 7.30pm. Ironically,
according to my GPS at least, this is the first day of astronomical
'summer' (in the two season winter/summer model anyhow), with sunrise
at 6.11am and sunset more than 12 hours later, at 6.14pm.
Incidentally, if this is the case why haven't we reached the spring
equinox yet (it's apparently the 21st at 0007 hrs)
Refraction.
