Whatever the weather, we wish all on UKSCi.Weather a Happy Easter
holiday, with some interesting weather information from our archives
below:
Although Easter is a moveable feast, with as much as a whole month's
variation in its position in the calendar, we haven't done too badly
in Coventry and Warwickshire weatherwise over this holiday weekend; in
recent years we have enjoyed a relatively dry 4 day Easter weekend,
with the last wet one in 2000, though even then Easter Sunday itself
was dry.
The Easter periods of 1985,1986 1993 and 1994 were wet for us, but
otherwise we haven't fared too badly since 1981 which is as far as we
have tracked back so far.
In 1985, Easter Sunday had 22.4mm rain, with 13.3mm in 1994.
Temperature-wise it was cold on Easter Sunday in 2005 (8.7C), 1998
(8.6C), 1986 (6.2C) and 1983 (8.C).
Surprisingly, the warmest Easter Sunday since 1981 in 1999 managed
only 16.5C, with 16.1C in 2000.
The sunniest Easter Sunday was in 1990 (10.4hr) with 10.0hr in 1989.
Easter Sunday in 1981 & 1996 was cloudy all day with just 12 minutes
of sun in 2005.
The following Easter Sundays had snowfall 1998, 1986 and 1983 with
snow over the weekend also in 1989 and 1994 - more frequent than on
Christmas Day in fact!
Easter Monday in 1994 had snowlying.
We had thunder over the Easter weekend in 1983, 1986 and 1993.
No Easter gales or fog since before 1981.
