Default Thundery Breakdown?

Looking at the charts for the weekend it not only looks very warm but
with pressure falling both over the uk and france it could be that
thunder storms develope. Now should this be summer it would be
extensive but I am not sure at this time of the year.

From "The English Climate" by C E P Brookes (pub 1954):

"The third week of April is often bright and sunny, but also showery, and
this week may be said to mark the opening of the thunderstorm season in
Britain."

When I read first this book in 1964 (though probably not the same edition) I
thought it said that April was the first month when the UK could expect to
be affected by storms moving north from France.
