I wonder if anywhere, as yet unchecked, will have reached 80F?

Yes ... 26.7 at Southampton National Oceanography Centre,
but as I and others have said we are not sure of the location
of the temperatures sensors. If it is a rooftop site then it will not
count.

Subsequently adjusted, according to the Met Office website, to 26.6
deg C. It's almost as if someone down Exeter way has read this thread
and decided that the site's a bit too dodgy to let it have that magic
first 80 degrees F of the year.

I am endeavouring to find out the site details of the Climatological
station at the NOC and I will report back if I make any progress; the
person I need to speak to there is currently away from the office but
if anyne else out there knows the answer, please let us know! My
inclination currently is that it will turn out to be a rooftop or
mast mounted AWS but we shall see.
