We have had no recordable rain here near Exeter, Devon this month.
Anyone
else with this stat?

My last recorded rainfall (1mm) was on 31st March.

-------------------------------
This seems unusually widespread, especially for the time of year. None
here
since March 30th and only 8mm since March 6th.

I think that long-term records suggest that this time of year is
actually the most likely to have a prolonged drought.

------------------------
Would that be for individual localities John or nationwide at the same time,
if you see what I mean?
Dave

Pretty much nationwide, I think. "Blocking" seems to be most frequent at
this time of year, and if the block is in the right place that can mean
a prolonged dry spell.

Philip Eden's piece in today's Telegraph has some info on recent
droughts that occurred at this time of the year.
