I appear to be in the relative dry spot in Romsey with a
grand total of 1.3mm for April 2007... but not as arid as
Wootton, Isle of Wight coming in at 0.7mm (lowest for
any month since I started the records there way back
on 1 January 1974).

Nigel, assuming you actually lived in Wootton in the 1970s,
did you know Adrian Scadding, Lt-Cdr, RN, ret.? He
spent some years of his retirement commuting to Aberdeen
to do night shifts at Imcos Marine's office there. Lovely
chap. Not sure whether NL knew him ... I think
he'd left by the time Norman moved into the London
office.

Philip,
I didn't know of the chap you mention, but I knew two
Kens many years ago; Kenneth J. Hosking F.R. Met. S.
who lived in Binstead and kept the records for Ryde, and
R. Kenneth Pilsbury of Totland, who shot the most
wonderful photographs of clouds. His home was
'decorated' with them.
Swerving back on topic: unbroken sunshine in Romsey
today; wind ENE F5; max temp 21.8C.
Nigel.
