From the Tuesday of this week I will be on holiday right in the
far NW of Scotland. I know that the weather up here can be
awful but I think I am right in saying that this is about the best
time of year to go when the Atlantic is at it's weakest and
before the more changeable weaterlies July/August set it.
Any early thoughts/guesses as to conditions up there then?
I think I need high pressure in exactly the right position and
the GFS is my dream model at the moment and I believe
it completely
I don't think I could imagine better looking charts for that
part of the world!
Col,
As a taster you might like to look at the following webcams from time to
time

May/June is often the best time in the NW but if you get any sort of
northerly it can get pretty cold. Given the right situation fresh snow
can be seen on the mountains.
