At a guess? Because the MP complaining about it has told the BBC that
"traditional barometers" will be banned, and the relevant person at the BBC
has not done any proper research but simply decided "Ah! 'Traditional
barometer' must be like the one my aunt has on her wall". Since aneroid
barometers are much more familiar to most people, said BBC person has
decided that must be what is meant...
