just adding to below now I've had a root about ....

June 2000:

4. A DEEPENING Atlantic depression which tracked north-eastwards

between
Scotland & Ireland during the 12th and 13th became exceptionally deep
for the season, its lowest central PRESSURE of 968 mbar ( J. Minhinick
in his email says 964 mbar) being the lowest in the region since June
1944.

.... I think the central pressure of the low was finally sorted at 966
somewhere in the Faeroes sea area.

WINDS averaged 40 to 50 knots for a time in the north & west of
Scotland with GUSTS around or above 70 knots (e.g. Lerwick, Shetland =
70 kn; Stornoway, Lewis = 72 kn/highest June gust this station since
12th June, 1973 in record length since 1961.) -

.... and I've now found a note in the COL bulletin for that month of a
gust of 87kn at North Rona at 0400Z on the 13th.

Martin.
