Looks like Belgium has taken a hammering too. Any reports, Colin ?

.... Nothing severe reported in Belgium on Tuesday from what I can see.

I was too quick here. As the storms hit very late in the evening the
reports were not published unil this morning.

West Flanders was affected by thunderstorms from around 23.00 Belgian
time on Tuesday night. Heavy rain led to temporary flooding in
places - notably in the area of Roeselare near Kortrijk and in Ostend.

In Oostduinkerke on the coast a garage burned down after a lightning
strike. In Gistel just inland from Ostend lightning set a house on
fire and in Menen by the French border a farm building was struck and
set on fire.

An observer in Hooglede near Roeselare reported a "very intense"
thunderstorm from 23.00 giving 41.9 mm rain in about an hour and a
half with up to 8 lightning flashes a minute shortly after midnight.

Ostend Airport measured 25 mm rain and an amateur observer in Ostend
21.3 mm between 23.15 and 00.55.

In Bruges 23.7 mm fell between 00.00 and 01.30. Koksijde had 18 mm
and Ghent 14 mm.
