Surely you are already there.
, when I visited Paignton
Zoo. The environmentally friendly way, by train Penzance-Totnes.
I'd visit St Ives more often, but I find the long rail journey very
wearing.
I, like Graham live in Cornwall.
The train service from Paddington to Truro isn't bad apart from the fact
that it takes longer to get from Exeter to Truro, a distance of about 100
miles, than what it does to get from Paddington to Exeter, almost twice as
far.
Depart Paddington 1005
Arrive Exeter 1208
Arrive Truro 1421

Paddington to Exeter in 2 hr 3 min is very good. The best
with steam was 2 hr 55 min. The rest of the line is so steep and
bendy that I think there still an overall 60 mph limit and less in a
few places. The time with steam trains was only 25 minutes longer
than the present one.
