Well, our bit [1] of Cheshire's had an inundation today. We got home at
about 17:00 this evening to find our lane flooded and water pouring through
our garden, by far the worst it's been in the 19 years we've lived in the
village.

I haven't got a real rain gauge, but measured about an inch in the downpour
a couple of days ago. Today's very brief thunderstorm must have brought
many times that to result in such a spectacular wipe-out. We certainly
don't need any more until the ground's had a chance to drain.
