I remember 1976 well - bright sunny days for weeks in the midlands. What I
don't remember is feeling too hot - I don't think the humidity as was high
as it seems nowadays - anybody got any figures on this?

The humidity was mostly pretty low in the 1976 summer but in
1975, August in particular, it was very hot and humid. But I don't
remember feeling all that bothered about it because in Aug 75 I was
half my present age and that makes a big difference. I don't think
there was another decent summer in the 70's, even by the standards of
those times.


I was living in Bracknell in those years and remember 1976 for the
numerous fires in the heath and woodland surrounding the town,
suggesting a very dry summer.
