We were in Paphos, August 11th 1999. The day of the total eclipse. The heat

again in August. What made things worse was that the apartment was air
conditioned and even opening the window when we got up in the morning made
your clothes literally grab you.
I was there last June. I was surprised how cool it was (mid-20s mostly).
The only place to escape the discomfort was in the pool. now we visit in
October, still very warm but more pleasant.
Not true - you should have gone up to the Troodos mountains. We even
found some real flowing water up there!http://www.jstottphotography.com/photo.php?s=5550

I couldn't agree more! Went in mid August 1999, the first 4 days were
unbearable. Stayed in Paphos and the airport recorded 34-36C over
those first few days. The humidity was quite intolerable, with a
southerly wind and the air full of dust. We escaped the heat in the
Troodos Mountains. In fact we drove right up to the top of the ski
lift, and my wife found it to be a little too chilly for her liking!
We usually go in October now, nice and warm, but a little unsettled at
times.
