Default Summer rainfall

With autumn just 12 days away, we are very close to recording the
wettest summer on record in Coventry; with rainfall records dating
back to 1870, the wettest summer hitherto has been 1879 with 363.7mm
of rain - this summer has so far managed 358.4mm, just a shower short
of that record!

Just out of interest, the driest summer recorded only 46.8mm of rain
as recently as 1995, little more than we have had in the first 18 days
of this month!

Believe it or not, this is on average the driest day of the year in
Coventry, though we find that we recorded 50.3mm of rain on this day
in 1970!

Although it is cool out there today, it was even colder on 19th August
1954 when we only managed a maximum temperature of 12.7C- by contrast,
we enjoyed a high of 33C on this day in 1932, and 30.7C in 1996
