Thanks for pointing out 1980, the annual max was 29.4 at Cors Fachno
(Dyfed) however 1985 did exceed 30C. 30.1 at St Louis (Jersy). The
hot spell in early October you refer to, which I recall well, saw
March (Cambs) record an all time October high of 29.4 on the 4th.
