Hi Jim,

You have to knock off a couple of degrees up here.
A mild southwesterly would give a max of around 8 deg C.
Ironically our mildest days in winter are when we get a force 3-4 easterly off
the relatively warm Lyme Bay when it can reach 10-11 deg C.
Days are cold up here in winter but the nights can be quite mild with very few
hard frosts except the occasional -1 deg C and 20 knots.

Wouldnt a howling s-westerly with a long-ish sea-fetch produce a temp of 10c
here in winter?
Often does here in Bournemouth. Or do i need to make allowances for the
height above sea level at your place Will?

Turning into a really foul evening now.
In last 20 minutes wind has picked up to a steady NE'N force 6-7 with

gusts to
gale force and still rising. Continuous heavy rain lashing across the

fields.

Not a night to be out up here.
More like a typical winter's evening than July ! Although at circa 10 deg

C it
is a lot warmer than it would be in winter.

Just a normal depression blow up here at Haytor.

Rainfall to 2030 local just 24.5 mm and blowing force 5-6 (about 25

knots) with
the north in the wind giving me a bit of shelter.

Total rain for month so far now 63.3 mm.

Still raining hard (just about heavy) and wind is picking up slightly.
I think as the low begins to move away we'll begin to pull in a gale, but

again
there should be plenty of north in it so I don't expect much if any

damage
locally.

Yesterday evening outside in shorts and tee-shirt supping a beer and

listening
to the cows and birds in a balmy 15-16 degrees temperature now seems a

lifetime
away :-)

Summery cheers :-)
