: Wittering 108 mm = 57 mm (12 hours to 06z on Thursday) + 51 mm (12 hours
:to 18z on Thursday). Is this correct or has some duplication crept in
: somewhere ?
:
:Ahh, I had Wattisham confused with Wittering earlier re the initial 57mm.
:Looking at the radar returns from earlier it looks plausible but I'll try
to
:confirm if I can.

I have had an e-mail from Wittering Met. Office confirming the figures.

Rainfall at Wittering on Thursday was 52.6 mm in 12 hrs ending 0900
[continuous rain over about 9 hours] and 52.9 mm in 12 hrs ending 2100
[violent thunderstorm with hail] i.e. 105.5 mm for that 24 hour period.

57 + 51 mm were of course the SYNOPs readings at 0600 and 1800 on Thursday.

Thanks to the staff member at Wittering who took the trouble to write to me.
