Is Sunday forecast for southern England a bit pessimistic?

Current Met Office forecast for Sunday sounds a bit grim but I'd have
thought the pressure (1020mb or so) would be enough to keep it
generally dry and bright?
Well today is a lot worse than forecast where I m... it's been dull
and with light rain or drizzle from time to time and the ground (even
the pavement) hasn't dried out. A bright day with sunny periods and a
few light showers was forecast - especially on the (pretty useless)
BBC website that forecasts the entire day with one symbol. Grrr!
My take on it for the South is that the dull/drizzly stuff is clearing
slower than anticipated yesterday - but that eventually, it will start
to clear, brighten up and become dry in the South but possibly as late
as Sunday afternoon. My grass needs cutting so I'm banking on it.
