Wait until you see the list for October 7 and 8. I haven't finished
with those yet, but you can go to the USHCN link and see most of what's
happening. The reports of the Chicago Marathon should give pause, as
many runners became ill and one died from the heat.
================================================== =====
Following are the years that records were set for Chicago for each of
the first nine days of October.
1971 - 92F
1971 - 89
1954 - 88
1951 - 87
1963 - 84
1963 - 92
1982 - 86
1949 - 85
1949 - 85
There could be some slight differences between the above numbers and
yours but, the basic fact is that a heat wave in Chicago occurring
during the first week or so in October doesn't appear to be that
unusual.
Wouldn't you agree?
