Following are the years that records were set for Chicago for each of
the first nine days of October.
1971 - 92F
1971 - 89
1954 - 88
1951 - 87
1963 - 84
1963 - 92
1982 - 86
1949 - 85
1949 - 85
There could be some slight differences between the above numbers and
yours but, the basic fact is that a heat wave in Chicago occurring
during the first week or so in October doesn't appear to be that
unusual.
Wouldn't you agree?
