I saw a TV programme many years ago that featured Mr.Corbyn in earnest
conversations with bookmakers (Ladbrokes I think). Corbyn himself
more or less admitted that he was a con man but had struck up this
deal with the bookies that they would pay out when he got the obvious
forecast correct, ie the equivalent of paying out if today's forecast
of clear skies turns out to be correct. The bookmaker gained by the
publicity generated in showing just how honest they were and that you
could bet on almost anything - they would always honour that bet. I
certainly finished up with the impression was that Mr.Corbyn and the
bookies were both being rather clever but I did have my doubts about
the reliability of the forecasts.
