When will this all end???
Have you forgotten the first two to three weeks of June already?
The poster was refering to Summer, the first two to three weeks of June
are in Spring.
John,
Having made the same point about the fine, very warm weather of much of June
myself, I must point out that climatologically, June is always classed as a
summer month, each season consisting of three complete calendar months. Imagine
how difficult it would be to assemble seasonal climatic data if we had to start
within a month and work with daily data. Until about 30 years ago, it was quite
common for relatively settled weather up to June to break down to a more
unsettled pattern in July and August (sometimes known as the European monsoon,
as westerly winds return). So the association of a change from spring to summer
(whenever you wish that to be!) to settle the weather down is not something
that our forebears would have recognised in most years. It could however be a
consequence of the influence of global warming on the atmospheric circulation,
being present in the climate model scenarios of mid to late C21st.
