I thought they were quite common on the N.E coast of Queensland. Guides are
quite keen to point at the damage on the beaches caused by them. This does
seem unusual for so far south though. I've seen a bad hailstorm in December
(summer) in Sydney with pea size hail covering lawns when the temp 20
minutes before was 27C !
