"Floods could wipe out New Orleans"

When are these idiots going to stop talking such pure rubbish!
First off, one of the only places in Antarctica that is getting warmer is
the Antarctic Peninsula, most of the rest of the continent has been steadily
cooling for quite some time. With reference to Greenland, it is mostly the
coastal areas that are warming, areas high up on the ice pack are cooling.
I would suggest that the only reason we are seeing any melting ice in these
two areas is because of higher SST's.
Additionally, I read a report recently concerning mount Kilimanjaro stating
that: The air temperature at the summit is almost constant at -7c but (
wait for it ) there is less precipitation and the air is dryer now than it
once was. This is the reason the Kilimanjaro ice is melting, not as a
direct result of warming.
The warming of the surrounding continent is drying the air and hence
the lack of precipitation on the mountain. The mountain peak itself
cannot warm above the the temperture which is set by the adiabatic
lapse rate and its height above the snow line which is set at 0C. A
little more science and little less dogmatism might not go amiss.
Cheers, Alastair.
