I watched Sky weather for an hour, half an hour ago.
It dealt with nothing but storm warnings and explanations
re the impending surge. I then turned to the BBC News
channel as the weather came up - not one mention of
severe weather.

BBC News website has it http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/7085394.stm

This old story from October 2006 is linked to from the front page under
the headline story...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5279796.stm

a) It shows general areas of threat if there were no barriers. This
graphic will make people near the Bristol Channel and along the Thames
think they are under threat now!!

b) The graphic at the bottom shows air pressure pushing down onto the
sea causing a bulge with the caption "Low pressure forces bulge in sea
surface"!!

Stupid and irresponsible to link to this IMO.
