Continuous light rain here now, and it's beginning to thaw quite
obviously. Temperature 2°C, and the METAR for Birmingham Airport shows
that that's also the dewpoint now (up from zero at 11pm). Not looking
good any more, but it's been a very interesting evening.
13.15GMT: steady thaw continuing. Roads almost entirely clear except for
one or two tiny patches in the shadow of kerbs, which I should think will
be gone within a few minutes. Still a couple of larger patches in the
(north-facing) back garden, but I suspect that they won't survive the
afternoon. Temperature 9°C, which feels very mild!
The following BBC News article mentions that about 20 vehicles got stuck
last night at Clows Top, just a few miles up the road from me although at
considerably greater altitude (about 230m). As in February, we seem to have
been one of the most blessed lowland locations for snow - strange, as
Bewdley is not renowned for its snowiness!
