Also in Japan it is standard to have solar forecasts as well as

Jet streams are for grown-ups, not the child-like
ignoramuses the media are trying to turn us into (possibly in
their own image).
As to solar forecasts, what element is predicted? The sun
will rise; the sun will set. If it gets high in the sky you will
get burnt if you lie out in it for too long. Doesn't sound too
difficult.

Most people do not have a meteorological background so would not
know the significance of the jet stream. There is only so much you
can fit into a two minute forecast and I think the surface charts
are far easier for the layperson to digest than trying to show and
explain jet streams.

When I worked in Italy in the 1970's the TV forecasters there regularly
showed 500 mb charts as well as surface charts. I couldn't understand
what the presenters were saying but the graphical material used was
quite impressive.
