Default Cold day in the Midlands

I can verify that Steve,

dropping off work at university in Coventry today and walking around the
city was a chilling experience i can tell you. Became quite misty as well
as i was leaving university at about 4pm. This got thicker out towards
Berkswell etc. which is hardly suprising given Coventry's urban heat island.

The maximum temperature only just reached 0.0°C by midday today with
temperatures below freezing all afternoon.

Dull damp and misty all day with a visibility of 1200m.

Coldest day of the year so far in Coventry today, and the coldest
December day since 2000 (-0.2°C maximum).
