Default Backup batteries - lithium any good?

Another poster has also had their backup batteries expire on Christmas
Day, and I'm really looking forward to replacing mine in the ipssing
rain.

I notice that there's now AA size lithium batteries available, promising
years of use rather than the 18 months the alkalines managed in my
WMR100 wireless anemometer. Anyone tried them? Any gotchas with
different voltages, low temperature performance etc?

Maplins have them at £4.50 for a set of four.

cheers
