What do you think of the new software update for Weatherlink issued by

OK what you're referring to I guess is WL v5.8.0 which is the version
released to allow operation of the WeatherlinkIP logger.
The answer is no, I'm not aware of any specific issues whatsoever,
though this is obviously a pretty new release and the great majority
of users won't have installed it yet. We've been using it here without
any problems and I strongly doubt that there's any fundamental
problem.
As ever, installing software upgrades (of whatever software) can
always run the risk that instructions aren't followed carefully
enough. It may be the case, for instance, that simply installing an
upgrade over what was there already and without checking the
instructions in detail may have worked a couple of releases ago but
isn't necessarily fooproof with the latest version.Needing to make
software compatible with Windows Vista for example has forced some
significant changes in where various program files can be put.
But I'd be interested to hear the details of any instances where the
upgrade instructions have definitely been carefully followed and still
a problem has arisen.
It's always a good principle of course not to upgrade a
software/firmware etc version unless there's a good reason to do so.
If it ain't broke... etc The only major reason for the release of
v5.8.0
AFAIK
is compatibility with WLIP and since no customer yet has
WLIP, I'm not sure why an upgrade might have been tried. I'm not
implying that there might not be a possible issue with WL580 but users
would do well to be wary of installing a new upgrade just because it's
available, at least and unless perhaps it might fix some urgent
problem that they're experiencing. At least wait until 5000 other
people might have run it for 3 months say.
