I realize that the UK is not usually not as rainy as the international
stereotype, but if this keeps up the rep we be well deserved :-)

(it gets dark real early),
Does it though? I was in San Francisco (which is in the southern half
of the US) in December one year and if I remember right it didn't get
dark much later than it does in southern England, perhaps half an
hour? Anyhow the stupidly dark evenings (i.e sun going down before
4.30pm) are already over in southern England at least, and will be
very shortly even further north.
