Average winter day here and snowcover comment
Here in southeastern Ontario we've now had snowcover (at least half of
the ground covered) for 53 of the last 57 days (in earlyish to midish
January a thaw melted it, but, as was expected, it came back). Though
this is a long time with snow on the ground, there is only about 6 or
7 inches (on average) on the ground now. Before the thaw there was, at
one point, over 18 inches.
A close to average day today temperaturewise here with a low last
night of minus 14C and a high today of minus 5C. The wind is kind of
gusty from the west and the sky has gone from sunny to overcast. Now
accumulatating snow is forecast for at least 24 hours.
