Default Lack of snow!

As I've only recorded one snow lying day (2nd Feb) I thought I'd look
back to see if I've had another Winter with only 1 snow lying day since
1960, and there have been two.

I have resigned myself to the fact that high pressure (and a mild one at
that) looks like taking over for some considerable time if the long
range charts are to be believed and where mild weather is concerned they
are rarely wrong.

The two other guilty Winters were 1975 and 1976 both had at least a
centimetre of lying snow which is more than can be said for 2008 which
just managed a covering and sadly I can't see anymore coming our way.

The only positive thing I suppose is March 1975 had 4 snow lying days
and a fall of over 15cms on the 27th and March 1976 had 2 snow lying
days and a fall of 6.5cms on the 26th, so all is not lost.

Offering another straw to clutch at, 1975 also had lying snow in June in
East Anglia.
