Hi Peter - there seem to be quite a few people from Sennen following
USW!

I always assumed it was the very clean air that made it visible, and
looking west from Sennen there isn't much to cause pollution.

However, layers of undisturbed warm/cold air over the sea surface at
night might play a part as well.
