Thunder first heard at 1220Z and went on for
15 minutes at close on 1 rumble per minute.
During that time the wind rose from 12kt to 26kt,
gust 52kt with horizontal, violent rain and 5mm
diameter hail reducing the vis to 400m.

... we must have been experiencing the 'winding-up' phase of this one
here in East Dorset (West Moors, just north of Ferndown). Moderate,
temporarily heavy rain between 1155Z & 1215Z, with a *brief* (single-
discharge) thunderstorm ~1210Z. No hail observed here, but the rain
was significant for a very short time. Sharp clearance around 1220Z
with strong sunshine returning. Noticed that EGHH experienced a gust
(10min/ob period only) to 49kn with the 1150Z ob. which would have
been as this thing was in the vicinity, but there have not been any
observations since! (As of 1320Z due issue).
