Whilst the climate here in ol' Blighty is certainly one of the most
interesting and changeable of climates I can appreciate it is not to
everyone's tastes, especially when it's cold and nasty (like at the
moment).

But it is the climate that has helped create the British Isles' green
landscapes and lush deciduous woodlands.

I've lived in the Med during the summer and at first it was lovely, being
able to sit outside every evening (overnight minimums of 22C-24C) making
good use of the swimming pool but after a month I started to get very
bored of the weather; opening the bedroom shutters in the morning to yet
another cloudless sky did start to lose its novelty very quickly and
lacked that expectation. And the daily grind of having to actually work in
the heat of the day was draining making even the slightest physical effort
a very sweaty and energy sapping ordeal.

I also remember arriving back at Brum Airport in September after 3 months
in Crete and walking off the aeroplane into the wonderfully cool, early
morning air. There had recently been a thunderstorm which was still
rumbling away in the grey distance to the north whist the sun was just
rising casting long shadows in its orange, misty light. I drove onto the
empty motorway and had the window down gulping in the scented air that
seemed incredibly fresh, and with the lush green grass everywhere; it was
just fantastic after living in such a hot and dusty place.

Absolutely, I got back from Istanbul Saturday night and it was only 20C
there, but after being taken to the wrong airport initially and then been
driven at 150kph along the hard shoulder of the motorway to the right
airport, believe me the fresh cold air ouitside Luton Airport was heaven to
my sweat ridden body!!
