Thanks Colin. Chances of the first 21C of the year by the end of
Friday?

Not over here in Brussels, I don't think. We barely managed 10°C today.
What annoys me more is the prospect of yet another northerly outbreak at the
weekend. I spent a few days before Easter with a friend in Edinburgh. It
was perishingly cold and our trip was spoilt as a result.
We both caught flu. In my case, that meant sitting at home with the
heating on full, feeling so feverish, weak and tired that it was an effort
simply to stand up and walk across the room. Many important jobs that I
had to do at home were not done because of this, and the time I had taken
away from work to do them was wasted. I am quite happy to see snow and
cold in December and January - but I don't understand the enthusiasm for
this sort of weather in March or April. It is supposed to be spring.
Re my post above: sharp-eyed readers may have noticed that the list of
highest min. temps and lowest max. temps is no longer taken just from the
06z and 18z synops. The website I get the extreme temperatures from now
has a much longer list of sites than before. If that continues, the lists
of the day's highest / lowest temperatures should be more accurate and
informative.
