Well well well, started as soft hail at 7 am, then sleet then heavy
snow for less than an hour. Result? 6 cm of fluffy lying snow on cars
and 4 sm on the ground including all side roads.
This is the first day I can recall snow lying at any time in April,
since I moved finally to the South Coast here, 20 years ago. It is the
first such day *in any month* since the thundersnow over 4 years ago
and it's 100% cover. One for the record books, I think!
Current temperature +0.4 deg C and it's just started to snow again...
For the record, overall at 10 am (9 am GMT) snow cover was (still is)
100% on all grass surfaces, bushes, trees, walls, cars and rooves (or
is that roofs?). It is now melting on roads and pavements but overall,
snow cover is well in excess of 50% and we still have continuous light
to moderate snow so that's 3 hours of it and counting!
Screen temperature is creeping up slowly, now +0.8 deg C.
